Acres U.S.A. — A Voice for Eco-Agriculture

Acres U.S.A. is North America’s oldest, largest magazine covering commercial-scale organic and sustainable farming. It has a wealth of information inside with selected articles that can be read online.

This magazine is available at the EMR library, but some might want to look at the website which also has books that can be ordered. Make sure to check out the toobox for additional materials.

Compost Tea

An information article about compost tea from Alberta Agriculture department.

“Compost tea is a liquid extract taken from stable, mature compost. Typically, the brewing process includes oxygenating the tea to maximize the microbial communities and shorten the brewing time.”

Beyond Factory Farming

Community activists from across Canada and from the USA who participated in the Beyond Factory Farming conference held in Saskatoon in November 2002 decided to form a national coalition of the same name to promote our common vision and mission:
* Livestock Production for Health and Social Justice
* To promote livestock production that supports food sovereignty, ecological, human and animal health as well as local sustainability and community viability and informed citizen/consumer choice.

PACS – Pacific Agricultural Certification Society

The Pacific Agricultural Certification Society (PACS) was formed in 2001 in order to provide organic certification to an ISO (International Standards Organisation) Guide 65 compliant standard that will be acceptable to all jurisdictions. The PACS has also the mandate to provide certification services (organic or otherwise) as determined by the membership.

Canadian Organic Growers Inc. is Canada’s national membership-based education and networking organization representing farmers, gardeners, consumers and supporters in all provinces and territories.
